OVERVIEW
At present, the HMO Faculty offers 4 specialized fields at the undergraduate level including meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, and marine technology with an annual capacity up to 150 students; 3 master programs in meteorology/climatology, oceanography, and hydrology with annual capacity of 60 students; and 5 doctoral programs focusing on meteorology/climatology, oceanography, hydrology, oceanic dynamics, and oceanic chemistry with number of enrollment varying with year. Since 2009, the undergraduate program has added a dual-degree program for which qualified students can obtain a dual degree in Informative Technology at the Hanoi College of Technology.
Until 2010 the HMO Faculty is still the only institution in Vietnam which offers both bachelor and master programs in meteorology, and one of the two institutions in Vietnam that has the doctoral program in meteorology, hydrology, oceanography and climatology. During more than 40 years of activity, the Faculty has awarded more than 1000 bachelors, 90 masters, and 20 doctors of philosophy. Most of the students graduated from the Faculty are now working or affiliated with different research and governmental agencies such as the National Hydro-Meteorological Services of Vietnam, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the National Institute of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Defense, and other universities or research institutes.
