Objective
Knowledge: Students are equipped with advanced and updated knowledge in the field of oceanography and marine technology.
Skills: Students are equipped with the skills of comprehension, analysis, assessment and selection of scientific solutions for problems arising in practice.
Capacity: Graduates from this program can actively work on selected majors; can assume responsibility for various positions of high requirements in oceanography and marine technology.
Candidates who wish to pursue a master degree of Oceanography should meet the following requirements:
Diploma requirements:
- Bachelor degree specialized in Oceanography or some closely related fields.
- Bachelor degree which is related to Oceanography. Those candidates should take additional courses in order to have equivalent knowledge in Oceanography as others. The courses as well as additional credit number will be stipulated by Vietnam National University.
Working experience requirements:
- Candidates who obtained a bachelor degree in Oceanography or some closely related fields with above average grade are eligible for taking the Master’s entrance examination right after graduating from their bachelor program.
- For other cases, candidates are required to have at least 2 years (24 months) of working experiences in the field related to Oceanography since their bachelor graduation.
Master’s entrance examination:
Candidates should pass the following examinations in order to enrol the Master program in Oceanography:
- Foreign language: B level for at least one language among: English, Russian, French, German, Chinese.
- Fundamental subject: Advanced Mathematic 1
- Basic subject: Oceanography
Total number of credits: 54 which are divided into:
- Common subjects: 11
- Basic and specialized subjects: 28
+ required: 22
+ elective: 6
- Master thesis: 15
For the final master thesis, students can choose different research directions as followings:
- Marine chemistry
- Marine geo-hydro dynamics
- Marine resources and environment
