Objective
Knowledge: The program supplements and enhances the knowledge learnt at the undergraduate level particularly in scientific and modern techniques. Graduates will master the theory and have a good level of practice.
Skills: The program helps students to be able to conduct research as well as to solve specific problems by using advanced technologies in hydrology.
Capacity: To ensure students to well perform professional work and research in their specialty. Graduates can detect and take part in resolving the issues of modern hydrology.
Admission
Candidates who wish to pursue a master degree of Hydrology should meet the following requirements:
Diploma requirements:
- Bachelor degree specialized in Hydrology or some closely related fields.
- Bachelor degree which is related to Hydrology. Those candidates should take additional courses in order to have equivalent knowledge in Hydrology as others. The courses as well as additional credit number will be stipulated by Vietnam National University.
Working experience requirements:
- Candidates who obtained a bachelor degree in Hydrology or some closely related fields with above average grade are eligible for taking the Master’s entrance examination right after graduating from their bachelor program.
- For other cases, candidates are required to have at least 2 years (24 months) of working experiences in the field related to Hydrology since their bachelor graduation.
Master’s entrance examination:
Candidates should pass the following examinations in order to enrol the Master program in Hydrology:
- Foreign language: B level for at least one language among: English, Russian, French, German, Chinese.
- Fundamental subject: Advanced Mathematic 1
- Basic subject: General Hydrology
Total number of credits: 54 which are divided into:
- Common subjects: 11
- Basic and specialized subjects: 28
+ required: 20
+ elective: 8
- Master thesis: 15
For the final master thesis, students can choose different research directions as followings:
- Variations of different hydrological factors in time as well as in territorial space.
- Integrated catchment planning and management, integrated water resources management.
- Hydrological processes modeling for water resources planning and management; flood forecasting, flood prevention planning and mitigation.
- River dynamics and erosion prevention.
